The silent auction helps benefit Project Lazarus, an organization offering support for people living with HIV/AIDS. John Waters Film Festival and Retro Sock-Hop Dance Party

Families can catch film screenings by iconic movie director and artist John Waters throughout the summer at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA). This Friday features the Johnny Depp-led musical comedy “Cry-Baby” starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12. Admission is free to NOMA members. The evening’s lineup also includes a 1950s sock-hop dance party with music from Jake and the Nifty ’50s to kick things off starting at 5 p.m.

610 Stompers Dance Team Auditions

Saturday, August 12 – Sunday, August 13

Popular New Orleans all-male dance team the 610 Stompers looks to beef up its squad. The group will hold its first round of auditions on Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13 at Harrah’s Casino. Auditions are open to all males over 21 years of age. Registration opens both days at 10 a.m., and auditions will last until 6 p.m. The public is invited to watch the auditions starting at noon for a $10 donation.
