‘Museum Day Live’ Offers Free Admission to New Orleans-Area Museums This Saturday

How many museums can you visit in one day? Well, if you plan it right, you might be able to explore eight New Orleans-area museums for free on Saturday, September 23.

Thanks to Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live!, thousands of people will have free access to more than 1200 museums and cultural institutions around the country.

The promotion includes several museums around the New Orleans area. In order to receive the offer, visit the Smithsonian’s website and find a participating museum you would like to visit. Download your ticket and present it at the museum.  The Museum Day Live! ticket provides free admission for two people.  You can only download one ticket per email address, so if you want to visit multiple museums, someone else will have to register on your behalf.

Participating museums in the New Orleans area are:

Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium

Longue Vue House and Gardens

New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum

New Orleans Museum of Art

Ogden Museum of Southern Art

Southern Food and Beverage Museum and the Museum of the American Cocktail

The Historic New Orleans Collection

The National WWII Museum
