Lula Restaurant Distillery brings the unique concept to New Orleans.
New Orleans is now home to the region’s first restaurant-distillery. Lula Restaurant Distillery opened its doors on St. Charles Avenue in early 2017.
Before owners Jess Bourgeois and Bear Caffery even launched the concept, a restaurant with an in-house distillery, their journey even took them to the State Capitol during the 2015 legislative session.
“We had to go through the process of getting legislation passed to make that happen,” Bourgeois said.
Bourgeios says he knows of about only three other similar concepts in the U.S. with the nearest restaurant-distillery in Park City, Utah.
Guests can take free tours of the distillery during normal business hours. Visitors can also enjoy the full-service restaurant with price points ranging from around $6 to $21 during dinner. The restaurant opens Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday the hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
We talked with Bourgeios and in-house distiller Morgan Summers to find out what guests can expect when they visit Lula for the first time.
