2020 NOLA ChristmasFest goes virtual with ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’ digital series

NOLA ChristmasFest, the family-friendly indoor holiday festival at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, will not open this year.

Instead, the 2020 event goes virtual with a schedule of free online programming, New Orleans tourism leaders announced Thursday.

Organizers announced a digital series of children’s activities called “Santa’s Little Helpers” that will bring the Christmas spirit home to families. The week-long online program launches on Dec. 11 and runs through Dec. 18.

NOLA ChristmasFest’s online programming includes Christmas crafts, holiday baking and decorating, holiday dance and fitness classes, holiday science experiments, nightly book reading from some of our favorite Christmas characters and special guests, and more.

According to a release, the program “is designed to help children hone the skills needed to be one of Santa’s elves-in-training.”

The digital event is one of many holiday-themed events taking place during “Holidays New Orleans Style” which will blend a hybrid of virtual and live experiences this year due to the pandemic.

NOLA ChristmasFest plans to return to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in its traditional format in 2021.
