Tammany Taste of Summer expanding to help more North Shore businesses during pandemic

Tammany Taste of Summer returns during a time when many North Shore businesses can use the extra boost. This year, organizers are expanding the program to help more businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

That means Tammany Taste of Summer steps outside the realm of restaurants this year to also include attractions, hoteliers and other tourism-driven businesses. The promotion also extends to a two month period for 2020.

Locals and visitors can save on overnight stays, restaurants, and attractions by accessing the free Tammany Taste of Summer Savings Pass from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30.

As they redeem offers, pass holders can enter to win a grand prize of a private wine dinner for four or a charter fishing excursion, according to Tammany Taste organizers.

“The Tammany Taste of Summer program is expanding this year to incorporate more tourism-related small businesses, such as restaurants offering casual fare and attractions,” says Donna O’Daniels, president and CEO of the St. Tammany Parish Tourist Commission. “We thought it important to extend the benefits of this free campaign and bolster as many tourism-related businesses as possible. We’re also investing more resources and continuing the promotion through September 30 to have more positive impact.”

The two-month-long celebration of culinary deals and events is similar to the annual Coolinary program adopted by many New Orleans-area restaurants. The St. Tammany Parish Tourist Commission first launched the promotion in 2018 featuring both landmark Northshore restaurants and rising stars.

Participating North Shore restaurants will offer prix fixe menus including Annadele’s, Café Lynn, Ceasar’s Ristorante, Dakota, Forks and Corks, Gallagher’s (Grill, 527 and Front Street), Impastato Cellars, The Lakehouse, and Restaurant Côté.

Other restaurants will offer a special discount on dishes, drinks or meals.

Northshore attractions offering deals include Bayou Adventure, Brooks’ Bike Shop rentals, Cajun Encounters Honey Island Swamp tours, Canoe and Trail Adventures, Culinary Kids, Escapology Covington, Gold Coast Skydivers, Louisiana Tours and Adventures, and 30xNinety Theatre.

Northshore hoteliers and bed and breakfast owners are offering daily rates for Tammany Taste of Summer visitors when visitors book directly through the Tammany Taste website. Some spots offering special rates include Blue Heron Bed & Breakfast, the Southern Hotel, Abita Springs Hotel and Wingate by Wyndam in Slidell.

Organizers say more participants are being added daily to the program. To access Tammany Taste of Summer Savings Pass details or to book a room, visit the website www.TammanyTaste.com.
