A Tavola Restaurant and Wine Bar is the latest local eatery entering the Metairie dining scene. The new Italian restaurant opens at the former home of Bravo! Cucina Italiana at Lakeside Shopping Center.
A Tavola, which means “at the table” in Italian, is the latest restaurant from Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts, a local company operating 19 restaurants spanning upscale to casual, including Broussard’s, NOSH, Royal House and Flamingo-A-Go-Go.
A Tavola, along the Veterans Boulevard corridor, features modern, Italian cuisine in a lively and family-friendly setting.
The new Italian concept marks Creole Cuisine’s third restaurant in its growing Jefferson Parish footprint. The company currently operates two Boulevard American Bistro locations in the parish, with the second location recently opening in Harahan this May.
“We are so excited to bring our modern, Italian restaurant to Jefferson Parish,” said Marv Ammari, Creole Cuisine CEO. “A Tavola is a place where families and friends can gather to enjoy each other’s company while enjoying a great meal. We can’t wait to have you around our table.”
An open kitchen format welcomes families to watch the action while it unfolds. Meanwhile, guests can choose from a menu of wood-fired pizzas, antipastis, soup and salads, paninis and sandwiches, alongside other Italian favorites.
Comfortable indoor seating includes a large family table that graces the middle of the restaurant and is set for 12, or guests can choose the ample outdoor dining space for an al fresco experience.
Creole Cuisine culinary director Steven Marsella crafted a menu that includes familiar classics like calamari, insalata mista, veal parmigiano, and baked pasta. Other items include Neapolitan-style pizzas and house-baked focaccia served warm to every table. For dessert, gelato and sorbetto are supplied by local dessert maker Piccola Gelateria.
Marsella says he sources a dry pasta from Italy that is brass extruded, giving it a rough texture, which helps the sauce cling to the pasta.
This menu is simple and fresh,” Marsella said. “We’ve created something for everyone, from the most sophisticated palette to the little bambinos.”
A Tavola also boasts an extensive bar program, with a large bar area “perfect for date night or drinks with friends on the weekend.”
Nearly a dozen specialty cocktails, housemade limoncello, and two specialty frozen cocktails are available—limoncello and Italian eggnog.
Wine lovers can choose from a selection of wines on tap, along with more than two dozen wines and sparklings by the glass and 58 wines by the bottle, with half a dozen sparkling. Logically, there is also an emphasis on Italian wines, with more than two dozen offerings, including a Super Tuscan wine, Ornellaia, Le Volte Dell’Ornellaia.
The restaurant also hosts a daily happy hour from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring $5 select glasses of wine, premium and specialty cocktails for $6, beers for $3, select appetizers for $7, and half off all pizzas. Weekly specials include Salute! Wednesdays with $5 call, $6 premium and specialty cocktails, and Vino Thursdays with half off select bottles of wine.
