For the second year in a row, the annual Go 4th on the River Independence Day fireworks show in New Orleans has been called off amid the pandemic.
The Riverfront Marketing Group announced that the fireworks display along the New Orleans Riverfront has been canceled for 2021.
“Due to the inability to secure needed financial support, the Riverfront Marketing Group sadly announces the cancellation of Go 4th on the River 2021,” event organizers said in a statement posted on the website.
According to the website, organizers say they hope to bring back the event in 2022.
The first Go 4th on the River event was produced in 1991 to mark the end of the Gulf War. In 2002, the Riverfront Marketing Group formed with the mission of producing a spectacular dueling fireworks display along the historic downtown New Orleans riverfront.
