New Orleans Nightmare opens for screams during a sneak preview on Friday the 13th

For the first time, New Orleans Nightmare in Jefferson Parish opens for screams for one-night-only on Friday, Aug. 13.

In honor of Friday the 13th, long considered a day of bad luck, guests can visit the attraction and get a sneak peek into the terrifying haunt before the official Halloween season starts.

New Orleans Nightmare gears up for its fourth year since taking over the former House of Shock location near the Huey P. Long Bridge.

Haunted house producers say the haunt will return this year with three new horrifying themed attractions: The Boogeyman, Operation: Laughing Place, and the Spirit of Halloween. New Orleans Nightmare will once again offer its signature attraction called Phobia Sensory Overload.

For the Friday the 13th event, several COVID-19 precautions will be in place. Protective face coverings are required for everyone on-site during the entire experience. Capacity will be limited to encourage social distancing between groups, surfaces and touchpoints will be sanitized regularly.

Also, each guest who purchases tickets to the Friday the 13th celebration will automatically receive a voucher to return in September or October, haunted house operators said in a release.

Tickets for the single-night event are on sale now starting at $19.99 at the New Orleans Nightmare website.

New Orleans Nightmare is one of 13 national attractions produced by Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, the world’s largest Halloween-inspired entertainment company. The attraction is located at 319 Butterworth Street in Jefferson, Louisiana.
