NEW ORLEANS, La. (NOLA WEEKEND) - Baton Rouge-based burger chain Smalls Sliders plans to expand to the New Orleans area.
A company spokesperson confirmed that the slider drive-thru restaurant is eyeing three locations for upcoming sites in Metairie, Marrero and Slidell.
No specific dates or exact locations have been announced for the Metairie or Marrero restaurants. Chief marketing officer Katherine LeBlanc said lease negotiations are ongoing for those sites. However, the Slidell location will open at 1640 Gause Boulevard.
“We are hopeful they will all open this year, but some may push into the beginning of 2023,” LeBlanc said.
Drew Brees, who’s also part-owner of the Small Sliders brand, will serve as the franchise owner of the Metairie location, along with his former Purdue football teammates Jason Loerzel and Ben Smith.
Small Sliders is cheeseburger slider drive-thru concept with a simplistic menu -- sliders, fries and milkshakes. The restaurant chain is the brainchild of Brandon Landry, founder of Walk-On’s, and co-founder Jacob Dugas. They were joined by a team of experienced entrepreneurs including Brees, LSU Professor Scott Fargason and veteran franchise executive Joe Lewis.
After opening the first Baton Rouge location in 2019, Small Sliders has quickly expanded with a second Baton Rouge location and franchises in Thibodaux and Shreveport.
The cheeseburger slider drive-thru restaurant based in Baton Rouge has quickly become a franchise due to the success of their first location, opened in September 2019. There was a second location opened in December 2021 - also in Baton Rouge.
The restaurant features a unique c-can design, allowing for a quick construction turn-around. Smalls Sliders is drive-thru but also has a popular walk-up experience with outside seating.
The first Smalls Sliders opened at 4343 Nicholson Drive, right across from Tigerland near LSU in Baton Rouge.
