(Ark-La-Tex Weekend) - It’s one of the quintessential parts of Christmas. You can’t escape some sort of candy cane during the season. These sweet, minty desserts are everywhere. So next time you grab one, think of these candies, remember these simple truths about them.
1. The longest candy cane made came from Switzerland and measured 51 feet.

5. They’ve been called candy canes since around 1866.
6. Candy canes were originally straight. The curve was added to represent the Shepard’s crook(cane) and if you turn it upside down, it’s the letter J for Jesus.

8. The leading theory of when candy canes came into being is in 17th century Cologne, Germany.
