METAIRIE, La. (NOLA WEEKEND) - Rick Springfield, The Jacksons, Don Felder of the Eagles and the Imagination Movers top the concert lineup for Family Gras 2023.
This year, Family Gras will only take place on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11, given that the Super Bowl is on Sunday. In previous years, the popular Carnival celebration and concert series in Metairie was usually a three-day event.
For the event’s 15th year, the concerts will take place at the original location of Mardi Gras Plaza, the neutral ground area on Veterans Memorial Boulevard across from Lakeside Shopping Center.
The Jacksons, a trio consisting of original Jackson 5 members Tito, Jackie and Marlon, are scheduled to headline Friday night, preceded by Vince Vance and the Valiants.
The Imagination Movers, country singer Hailey Whitters, Croce Plays Croce, Don Felder and Rick Springfield are scheduled to perform on Saturday.
Three parades are also scheduled to roll during Family Gras weekend in Metairie.
The krewes of Excalibur and Symphony roll on Friday night starting at 6:30 p.m. Then, the Madhatters roll at 5 p.m. on Saturday, with singer Vince Vance also riding as the Madhatter.
Earlier this month, officials announced the 2023 Jefferson Parish parade schedule. Parades for the season start rolling in Metairie with the Krewe of Little Rascals on Feb. 5.
