Plaquemines Parish Seafood Fest brings seafood, music, rides to Belle Chasse

BELLE CHASSE, La. (NOLA WEEKEND) - The Plaquemines Parish Seafood Festival returns to Belle Chasse this weekend with its fill of fresh local seafood, live music and rides from April 28 to April 30.

The annual festival celebrates the parish’s unique seafood and culture with local restaurants, vendors and organizations featuring their own seafood dishes.

In addition to a variety of cuisine, including the Croation American Society’s chargrilled oysters, there will also be live music, carnival rides, crafts from local artisans and an oyster drop raffle. A 5k race will be held on Friday at 6 p.m., and there will be a kids’ tent on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Local cover band Groovy 7 kicks off live entertainment on Friday. Other acts scheduled to perform during the weekend include Electric Ramble, R&R Smokin’ Foundation, Supercharger, BC Boyz and Faith Becnel. Rockin’ Doopsie Jr. closes out the festival on Sunday night.

Gates open Friday from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Parking is free.

Admission is free on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under.

The Plaquemines Parish Seafood Festival takes place at the festival grounds at 333 F Edward Hebert Blvd. in Belle Chasse.
