Drew Brees-backed Smalls Sliders bringing burgers to new Marrero location

MARRERO, La. (NOLA WEEKEND) - Baton Rouge-based burger chain, Smalls Sliders, opens its doors to a new location in Marrero.

The fast food restaurant opens at 1635 Barataria Blvd.

Small Sliders is a cheeseburger slider quick-service concept with a simplistic menu -- sliders, fries and milkshakes. The Marrero location features both drive-thru and walk-up ordering and marks the eighth location for the burger chain.

Smalls Sliders’ Marrero opening is the latest in a series of openings across Louisiana. In December 2022, the quick-service concept opened its first metro New Orleans location in Slidell.

The restaurant will operate under the local ownership of Rick Robards, a U.S. Navy veteran and seasoned multi-unit operator with more than 13 years of experience working within the restaurant industry. The company says Robards also has plans to open more Small Sliders locations across the area in coming years.

Robards plans to operate the new restaurant alongside his wife and business partner.

“First and foremost, my wife and I want to use our new restaurant as a vehicle to make a difference in our community,” Robards said.

The made-to-order cheeseburger sliders are dressed with cheese, sauce and pickles. There’s also an option for a “Biggie Smalls” combo that modifies the sandwich to add double meat and cheese. The menu also features vanilla and chocolate milkshakes.

Owned by former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Brandon Landry, CEO of Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, the brand has already garnered a fanatical guest following across the state in markets such as Baton Rouge, Praireville, Shreveport and Thibodaux.

Smalls Sliders opened its first restaurant across from Tigerland near LSU in Baton Rouge in 2019. The restaurant features a unique c-can design, allowing for a quick construction turn-around.
