New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota Vikings

Friday, Aug. 9

Who Dats, get ready to cheer on the black and gold because football season is back! The Saints take on the Minnesota Vikings in the preseason home opener on Friday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Live entertainment will also return to Champions Square before kick-off starting at 4 p.m. This week, Got Groove will excite fans with musical entertainment on the stage.

Ready for the Saints to play? Here are some sports bars round the area for a game-time atmosphere. Tune in to FOX 8 for pre-game coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. and stick around after the game for post-game analysis.

New Orleans Salsa Bachata Festival

Friday, Aug. 9 – Sunday, Aug. 11

The New Orleans Salsa Bachata Festival is a three-day celebration of Latin dance at the Astor Crowne Plaza. The festival features more than 70 hours of workshops, classes, dance challenges and social dancing, while international Latin artists perform. Tickets start at $15.

Red Dress Run

Saturday, Aug. 10

Runners will paint the city red at the annual Red Dress Run, celebrating 25 years on Saturday. Runners can meet up at Crescent Park at 9 a.m. to pick up packets before the mad dash through the French Quarter starts at 10:30 a.m. Following the run, participants can enjoy food, drinks and music. You must be 21 years or older to participate. Registration costs range from $65 to $70 in advance or $75 on race day. Proceeds from the popular summer event hosted by the New Orleans Hash House Harriers go to local charities.

Dirty Linen Night

Saturday, Aug. 10

Dust off your white linen from last weekend for Dirty Linen Night on from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. More than two dozen galleries and shops open their doors for the annual art event starting at the 200 block of Royal Street. A $20 wristband gets you in on the fun. Enjoy food, drink and music while you stroll.

White Linen & Lagniappe

Saturday, Aug. 10

One Northshore community celebrates its version of White Linen Night on Saturday, called White Linen and Lagniappe. The event features a fun night of art, live music, shopping and dining in Olde Towne Slidell. Many area restaurants, galleries and shops will stay open after-hours. Local artists will also display their work at several locations. The event happens from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

610 Stompers host auditions

Saturday, Aug. 10 – Sunday, Aug. 11

New Orleans’ popular all-male dance team, the 610 Stompers, wants to know if you have to moves to join their 2019 squad. The group will hold its first round of auditions at Harrah’s Casino on Aug. 10 and Aug. 11. All applicants will learn a new dance routine. The public is invited to watch the auditions each day starting at noon. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the door for $10.
