610 Stompers reveal new 2018 ‘rookie class’

The 610 Stompers reveal the newest members to join their dance krewe. The city’s popular all-male dance team announced 15 men who made the cut, via the group’s Facebook page.

“After hours and hours of deliberations, we finally have a new 610 rookie class,” the 610 Stompers said in a Facebook post announcing the new members. “Let’s welcome our Year 10 Stompers to the family. Thanks so much to everyone who came out to try out and cheer on their men. We couldn’t do what we do without you!”

Congratulations poured in from Facebook commenters giving praise to the new rookie crew. One of the finalists, Jason Homer, who is partially paralyzed, was championed during the audition process after his audition went viral.

The 610 Stompers also tease an upcoming highlight reel, featuring the auditions that helped the newest members land a spot on the team.

Plenty of guys gave their best shot to make the squad, including FOX 8’s chief meteorologist David Bernard, who documented his audition experience on Facebook.

The 610 Stompers hosted their first round of auditions on Aug. 11 and Aug. 12. The final round was held on Aug. 18.

The 610 Stompers dance group was founded in 2009. The group performs in dozens of parades and events hosted by non-profits throughout the year.
