'Saints Black and Gold Friday' Pep Rally
Friday, Jan. 18
Saints fans have another chance to cheer on the team ahead of the big NFC Championship. Hancock Whitney hosts another downtown Black and Gold Friday pep rally at 10 a.m. at the Hancock Whitney Center, formally One Shell Square. Saints legends Rickey Jackson and Pat Swilling are scheduled to appear, along with the team’s mascot Gumbo and the Saintsations. The event will feature music, light refreshments and giveaways. Fans can register to win autographed merchandise and maybe even tickets to the game.
Saints fans get free admission to Friday Nights at NOMA
Friday, Jan. 18
The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) offers free admission to visitors in Saints jerseys, apparel, or team colors on Friday, Jan. 18 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors can enjoy all of NOMA’s special exhibitions free of charge, including “The Orléans Collection,” now in its final days, and “Ear to the Ground: Earth and Element in Contemporary Art.” Friday Nights at NOMA opens the museum’s doors until 9 p.m. with activities for the entire family including live music, small talks, children’s activities, and more. All galleries, the Museum Shop, and Café NOMA remain open.
Big Wig Ball
Friday, Jan. 18
The third annual Big Wig Ball takes on the theme “Rocky HAIRror Picture Show” at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Opera Guild Home. The event features sensational music, food, drink, and fun for guests. Wigs are required upon entry, and guests are invited to wear either cocktail or costume attire. Six judges will each select their favorite wig wearing guests, then choose who will be crowned the “Big Wig 2019.” Big Wig Ball tickets are $50 in advance and $75 at the door; must be 21 to enter.
Choppa, Ying Yang Twins perform free at Harrah's
Saturday, Jan. 19 – Sunday, Jan. 20
Saints fans can jam to some of their favorite unofficial anthems with live performances during the NFC Championship weekend. Choppa and the Ying Yang Twins are among the artists performing for free at Harrah’s on Saturday, Jan. 19 and Sunday, Jan. 20. Choppa is set to return to Masquerade Night Club inside Harrah’s Casino on Sunday, Jan. 20 for a free post-Saints game performance. The Ying Yang Twins will perform at Masquerade Night Club inside Harrah’s Casino on Saturday, Jan. 19. Doors open for the free pre-game performance at 7 p.m. Another free performance this weekend is open to all ages. Rockin’ Dopsie, Jr. will perform at Fulton Street Fan Fest next to Harrah’s Casino at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20. Read more about the event here.
Bal Masque 2019
Saturday, Jan. 19
The 2019 Ball Masque brings a Carnival-themed masquerade party to the Sugar Mill at 7 p.m. on Saturday. James Beard Award-winning Chefs Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski bring together top celebrity chefs and mixologists all for a good cause. 10 are available The gala also features live New Orleans brass and folks, Cajun dancehall and Haitian Vodou rock ‘n’ roots music. General admission tickets start at $300; reserved seats and tables of 10 are available.
"Jaws" in Concert at the Mahalia Jackson Theater
Saturday, Jan. 19
Experience Steven Spielberg’s thrilling masterpiece of suspense comes to life at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. See the movie “Jaws” on The Mahalia Jackson Theater’s huge HD screen, while John Williams’ iconic score is performed live by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Ticket prices start at $10.
Central City Oyster Jam
Sunday, Jan. 20
The Central City Oyster Jam wants to add a pre-game option to your list on Sunday. The mini festival combines food and music at Central City BBQ starting at 10 a.m. Come hungry for oysters served every way imaginable. Organizers say they’ll also show the Saints game so you don’t miss any of the action. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
Saints vs. Rams NFC Championship Game
Sunday, Jan. 20
Who Dats will storm the dome for the big NFC Championship showdown against the Los Angeles Rams at on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Champions Square will play host to pregame festivities starting at 11 a.m. Even if you’re not heading to the Superdome, they’re are playoff parties and places to watch the game all around the area.
