The NOLA Project presents 'The Henchman: A Shakespeare Story'

Friday, May 10 & Sunday, May 12

“The Henchman: A Shakespeare Story” is the latest outdoor theatrical production from the NOLA Project. The play is imagined as a sequel to “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” that reveals the true story of Jacob, the little changeling boy who Oberon and Titania quarreled over many years ago. The performance comes to life in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Showtimes this weekend are at 7 p.m. on Friday and Sunday. Ticket prices range from $12 to $25. The production runs until May 26.

UNO Crawfish Mambo

Saturday, May 11

Sample dozens of different crawfish boils cooked by teams competing for cash prizes and bragging rights at Crawfish Mambo from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Indulge in all-you-can-eat crawfish at the cook-off taking over the University of New Orleans on the Lakefront. The music lineup includes the Bucktown All-Stars, Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes, Young Pin Stripe Brass Band and J & the Causeways. There’s also a crawfish-eating competition. Tickets are $25 in advance or $35 at the gate. Children age 7 and under enter free.

Magazine Street Champagne Stroll

Sip and shop at the 9th annual magazine street champagne stroll starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Many shops along Magazine Street will offer free champagne, light bites and special deals, while extending their hours until 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Old Metairie Crawfish Festival & Cook-Off

Seafood lovers can also dive into all-you-can-eat crawfish in Old Metairie on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. The 7th annual Old Metairie Crawfish Festival and Cook-Off will feature teams competing while boiling more than 10,000 pounds of crawfish at St. Catherine of Siena School. Presale tickets are $25, and tickets at the gate are $30.

Brennan's 5th Annual Turtle Parade

Saturday, May 11

The “Slowest Second Line on Earth” will roll through the streets of the French Quarter when Brennan’s annual turtle parade kicks off at 11 a.m. this Saturday. The parade route begins at 500 Bienville Street, continues down Chartres Street to St. Peter Street and then turns onto Royal Street, arriving at Brennan’s Restaurant. Festivities continue after the parade at Brennan’s Restaurant.

New Kids on the Block - "The Mixtape Tour"

Celebrate Mother’s Day with the “Soul Queen of New Orleans” at Audubon Zoo’s annual Mother’s Day celebration on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event features live performances from Irma Thomas and Cha Wa. Bike Easy 2019 Spring Bicycle Second Line

Bike Easy’s signature Bicycle Second Line is a pedal-powered version of a music-led, second-line parade happening on Sunday. Registration opens at 10 a.m. and the ride leaves City Park Dreyfous Meadows (in front of NOMA), at 10:30.  A family friendly post-ride celebration takes place at Second Line Brewing starting at 1 p.m. with more live music, food trucks, children’s activities and more! The event is free.
