610 Stompers Debutante Ball

In honor of the 2018 Winter Olympics, the 610 Stompers are throwing a Toga-themed debutante ball at Mardi Gras World from 8 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Jan. 19. General admission tickets range from $40 to $60 and includes food from more than 30 restaurants, open bar and beer. If you have a little more cash to spare, a patron party proceeds the event with a $100 to $150 price tag. Come dressed in your toga and dancing shoes.

Hamiltunes NOLA: An American Singalong at NOMA

Friday, Jan. 19

This week’s edition of Friday Nights at NOMA includes a special singalong featuring songs from the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton.” Join the New Orleans Museum of Art on Friday starting at 5 p.m. for family activities and gallery talks all leading up to the Hamiltunes NOLA Singalong. Regular museum admission prices apply. NOMA members are free.

Popular marching group The Pussyfooters host their annual Blush Ball at Generations Hall on Friday, Jan. 19. Doors open at 9 p.m. Ticket prices range from $40 to $60, which includes entertainment by the Brassaholics.

Marley Gras Jerk Chicken Festival

Saturday, Jan. 20

Mix Jamaican music and cuisine with the rich culture of New Orleans Carnival, and you’ll get the Marley Gras Jerk Chicken Festival. The outdoor/indoor festival hits Central City BBQ this Saturday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Festival features include music, food, crafts, a scotch bonnet pepper eating competition and a jerk chicken cook-off competition with celebrity judges. Tickets are $10, plus applicable fees.

Bal Masque 2018

Saturday, Jan. 20

Local chefs Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski host their annual Bal Masque celebration from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday at the Sugar Mill. The evening celebrates the kickoff of Carnival and benefits local youth. Enjoy food and drink from top chefs and mixologists and great entertainment. General admission tickets start at $300. Reserved seats and tables of 10 are also available.

'Jurassic Park' Film with Live Orchestra at the Orpheum

Saturday, Jan. 20 – Sunday, Jan. 21

Audiences can experience the iconic science fiction adventure “Jurassic Park” while the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra brings the score to life. The Orpheum Theater hosts three showings of the Steven Spielberg film on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $10 to $140.

Krewe of Tchefuncte Mardi Gras Ball

Over on the North Shore, Madisonville’s Krewe of Tchefuncte hosts its annual Mardi Gras Ball from 8 p.m. to midnight with the theme “Krewe of Tchefuncte Celebrates a Pirate’s Life.” Tickets are available for $55 each through the krewe’s website.

Steve Martin and Martin Short at the Saenger Theatre

Sunday, Jan. 21

Get a double dose of funny when icons Steve Martin and Martin Short share the stage at the Saenger Theatre for two shows on Sunday at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. The pair will join forces for a one-night-only performance of their comedy show “An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Lives.”   The legendary comedy duo will also be joined by the Grammy Award-winning bluegrass band The Steep Canyon Rangers and pianist/keyboardist/producer/arranger Jeff Babko.
