Santa’s North Pole Steam Train is back, bigger and better than ever this holiday season. The authentic Christmas holiday steam train will roll into New Orleans on Dec. 15.

The Louisiana Steam Train Association (LASTA) will operate the historic Southern Pacific steam locomotive #745 for a one-day-only event. The train will depart from the tracks on the Fly at the rear of Audubon Park and steam to Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World on the river next to the Morial Convention Center.

Once at Mardi Gras World, passengers will get off and go inside for a festive holiday party that includes a special showing of “The Polar Express.” ┬áHot chocolate and cookies will be served during the movie. Passengers are encouraged to bring blankets and wear pajamas.

After the movie, passengers will hop back on board Santa’s North Pole Steam Train to pick up Santa Claus! As the train heads back to the Fly at Audubon Park, Santa will walk through the train to greet all those on board.

The train will make two trips this year due to a high demand last year. More cars have also been added with additional seating choices.

Ticket purchases will include a free 2018 LASTA family membership.
