Bar Marilou, the French-inspired lounge inside the Maison de la Luz hotel, reopens for dine-in service and drinks in the Central Business District.
The bar announced it will open doors once again for weekend service only from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays through Sundays.
Under Phase Two requirements, New Orleans bars and casinos can reopen at 25 percent capacity and restaurants can increase capacity to 50 percent, with masks and social distancing required.
Mayor LaToya Cantrell also implemented new restrictions limiting bars and restaurants to table service only, with no seating at the physical bar starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 11.
“We’re a neighborhood restaurant, and we want to keep you, our staff and our community healthy. We’re keeping a close eye on policy updates from local health departments and the CDC, making sure our procedures exceed recommended measures,” according to a statement via Bar Marilou’s website.

Other safety precautions include contactless menus, sanitation of public spaces on an hourly schedule and hand sanitizer available throughout the bar. Guests are required to wear face coverings until seated at a table.
Bar Marilou also released a complete list of safety measures via its website.
“Our staff have been trained on standards, procedures and best practices for cleanliness and health as provided by the CDC and our local health department. We’re keeping a close eye on local and national government policy changes, and are always updating our protocols to keep you, our staff and our communities safe,” Bar Marilou stated on its website.
For the month of July, Bar Marilou will take 50 percent off the checks of frontline and hospitality industry workers as a way to say thanks for all they’re doing for the community.
Bar Marilou is located at 544 Carondelet Street.
