Big EZ Seafood unleashes Viet-Cajun seafood, expanded menu at new Kenner restaurant

West Bank-based Big EZ Seafood expands with a new restaurant, unleashing Viet-Cajun seafood in Kenner.

The new location, Big EZ Seafood & Oyster, opened at 2121 25th Street, near Williams Boulevard, right at the beginning of March.

Thien and Nhu Nguyen, who own Big EZ Seafood, launched the craze for Viet-Cajun-style crawfish in the New Orleans area when their Gretna restaurant opened in 2015. The cousins also run Mr. Crabhouse Seafood in Harvey.

Six years later, the Nguyen family hopes the new Big EZ Seafood & Oyster opening in Kenner “will bring Big EZ to a brand new level.”

“We always wanted a true dine-in establishment where families could come for generations to make memories,” manager Vuong Nguyen said. “We also knew that we wanted an oyster bar, and looked to fill that void in the Greater New Orleans area where we saw fit.”

 

The new Kenner location will significantly expand on Big EZ’s menu with oysters, wings, barbecue and more seafood options, along with made-to-order South Louisiana classics.

“Our wings will be a real feature because we’re offering them in varieties and flavors that are not easily found in the area,” Nguyen said. “We will have classic flavors, but also a unique East meets West spin on the wings as well.”

Nguyen said guests can expect a unique spin on barbecue, more fish and shellfish entrees, like crab cakes made with fresh lump crabmeat, lemon and secret spices.

 

Owners are already thinking ahead to the possible easing of restrictions later this year. The new restaurant’s design features a full wrap-around bar and a large, open main dining area.

Hand-painted murals by Anthony Nguyen transform the restaurant’s walls into a work of art. Eye-popping bright colors grace every inch of the building paying “tribute to South Louisiana, our scenery and our culture,” Nguyen said.

Four themed dining rooms will be available for small gatherings, including one called the “LSU Tigers room.” More painted murals feature imagery that depicts each room’s theme.

“We have several flat-screen televisions for game days and a full-service bar for signature drinks after a long day at work,” Nguyen said. “Our new restaurant really puts the guest in the driver’s seat and allows them to decide what kind of dining experience they want.”

Hours of operation at Big EZ Seafood and Oyster are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday. The restaurant also features a Big EZ Happy Hour from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
