Blissful Chaos: What to Expect at the Running of the Bulls

The Running of the Bulls takes over New Orleans this weekend.

Arm a fleet of Roller Derby girls with plastic bats and horns, and what do you get?  Blissful chaos, in the form of New Orleans’ own version of the Running of the Bulls.

San Fermin en Nueva Orleans kicks off festivities each July. The weekend’s main event, the Running of the Bulls begins and ends at the Sugar Mill.

At the New Orleans version of Spain’s famous bull-running event, local roller derby team the Big Easy Rollergirls chase participants in the streets armed with plastic bats. Other activities surrounding the main event include a pre-party, a post-race celebration immediately following the run itself, and a Sunday tapas brunch with a Hemmingway look-alike contest.
