Boiled Crawfish for Every Day of the Week

crawfishDuring crawfish season, there’s never a shortage of local options for a delicious boil. The trick is that some establishments only serve crawfish on certain days. It can get a little confusing keeping track.

We did some of the heavy lifting and looked for local restaurants and markets and what their crawfish boil schedules are.  What results is a master list of crawfish for every day of the week.  Feel free to bookmark and return often for your crawfish needs!

Monday

Bevi Seafood Company – This neighborhood seafood market boils crawfish on a daily basis.  Just walk up to the counter, order as many pounds as you want, your fixings, grab a table and dive in. There are 2 locations – Metairie and Mid-City. While the Mid-City location opens daily, the Metairie location only opens Wednesdays through Sundays.

Big Fisherman Seafood – The Magazine Street seafood market boils crawfish daily and they’ll even ship them to you if you live out of town.  This isn’t a restaurant so grab a few pounds and head to the Fly at Audubon park for a crawfish picnic.

Cajun Seafood – The Broad St. seafood market is a very popular place to grab some boiled crawfish with a line sometimes extending out the door but they are well worth the wait.  There are also locations in Treme, downtown and New Orleans East.

Frankie and Johnny’s – This uptown restaurant and bar has been serving boiled crawfish since before Christmas. Call first to see if they have them available on the day you want to go.

Jefferson Seafood Shack – Open daily, this popular seafood market serves them up hot all week.

Rouse’s – Local Rouse’s supermarkets throughout the city typically do a great job of offering tasty crawfish for at or below market prices.

Three Legged Dog – This French Quarter bar gives you multiple chances a week to grab some crawfish – Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m. and on Saturdays at midnight.

Tuesday

The Galley – Known for their fried seafood as well as their boiled fare, they always get high marks. Closed Sundays and Mondays.

Schaefer’s Seafood – Near the lake, Schaefer’s provides your crawfish fix in Metairie six days of the week (closed Mondays).

Seither’s Seafood – One of the best known seafood restaurants in Harahan, Seither’s supplies fresh, boiled crawfish daily while in season.  They cater too.  Call ahead for prices as market value applies (closed Sundays and Mondays).

Zimmer’s – Closed on Sundays and Mondays, Zimmer’s in Gentilly has one of the best reputations for delicious boiled crawfish anywhere.

Wednesday

Rivershack Tavern – Every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, the Rivershack Tavern on River Road boils up some crawfish with the fixings.  You get 3 lbs. with corn and potatoes.  The boil starts at 4 p.m.  Not in the mood for crawfish, well you can always get grilled oysters.

Thursday

Bayou Beer Garden – You can get your fill of crawfish every Thursday – Sunday at this mid-city beer bar.  For $13 you get 2 lbs of crawfish with all the fixings.  The boil starts at 3 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Tracey’s – When crawfish are in season, every Thursday starting around 12:30 p.m, Tracey’s on Magazine Street in the Irish Channel drops their first boil.  It also happens to be happy hour. Crawfish boils take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays as well.

Urban South Brewery – Craving crawfish on a Thursday?  Well head to Urban South Brewery on Tchoupitoulas and get your fix.  The taproom is kid-friendly so bring the family and feed everyone.  The first batch drops at 5 p.m.

Friday

Mid-City Yacht Club – Another mid-city bar is serving up crawfish on Friday’s starting at 4:30 p.m.   Receive a large tray of crawfish and the fixings for around $8.  Prices may fluctuate so call ahead if you want to inquire about the cost.

NOLA Brewery – As part of their free tour Fridays, NOLA brewery is adding boiled crawfish available for purchase to the mix.  That’s a marriage made in heaven.  Brewery tours are from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. every Friday.

The Prytania Bar – Friday crawfish boils are being brought back to The Prytania Bar on February 23 at 5 p.m. Crawfish can be purchased at cost and by the pound.

R Bar – On Fridays this Marigny bar hosts a crawfish boil starting around 6:30 p.m.  It’s free for patrons as long as you buy drinks and tip the chef. These will begin on Friday, March 2.

Second Line Brewing – Every Friday until Easter this neighborhood brewery is serving up crawfish courtesy of Crawfish King.  Grab one of their craft beers and enjoy as many pounds as you like.  Boiling starts at 5 p.m.

Avenue Pub – Check out the Avenue Pub Facebook page to discover which Sundays this St. Charles beer bar offers crawfish boils. Grab a beer, sit in the courtyard and enjoy the boil.

Maple Leaf – The Oak Street music club continues their tradition of serving up crawfish with the help of Seither’s Seafood every Sunday night at 10 p.m.  $10 will get you dinner and a show.

The Ugly Dog Saloon – Every Sunday the saloon boils crawfish, and $15 will get you about 3 lbs plus the fixings.
