Canal Street Lighting Ceremony kicks off downtown holiday fun on Nov. 20

Spend the holiday on Canal Street. This year’s Canal Street Home for the Holidays features a festive lineup.

Pull out the calendar and plan your holiday schedule now. The Downtown Development District kicks off its Canal Street Home for the Holidays celebration with the Canal Street Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Here are a few save the dates for this year’s Canal Street Home for the Holidays celebration.

Tuesday, November 20

Everyone’s invited as we “flip the switch” on Canal Street and throughout downtown NOLA. The Downtown Development District and Astor Crowne Plaza will turn on more than 1 million twinkling lights Tuesday, November 20 for 5:30 pm. The Voices of Peter Claver and a special visit from Santa Claus will accentuate this year’s event.

Krewe of Jingle Parade

Saturday, December 1

Join us as we parade through the holidays for the annual Krewe of Jingle Parade presented by the Downtown Development District and the Roosevelt New Orleans. The parade starts at 1 pm at Lee Circle, will parade down Canal and end on Howard Avenue.

Movies on the Mississippi

Enjoy a movie on the river? Sounds like a good deal to us! And it’s family friendly.

The Downtown Development District and the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk are proud to present special outdoor movie showings during the holidays.

Friday, November 30 – The Star
Friday, December 7 – The Santa Claus
Friday, December 14 – Elf
All movies begin at 6:30 pm.

Canal Place Reindeer Run & Romp and Holiday Scavenger Hunt

Saturday, December 8

 

The DDD and Entergy invite you out to the annual Canal Place holiday fun run for kids Saturday, December 8. The Reindeer Run is a 1-mile holiday run for families on Canal Street, beginning and ending at Canal Place Plaza. Rudolph, Santa and friends will jingle their bells to signal the start of the race. After the race, participants can enjoy music, games, crafts and more. Registration starts at 8 am. The race begins at 9 am.
