Several restaurants and bars across the New Orleans area host Cinco de Mayo parties to celebrate the Mexican holiday on Sunday, May 5, which also falls on the final day of Jazz Fest. Even still, locals can expect several Mexican hot spots to pull out all the stops.

Cinco de Mayo at Nolé – Sunday, May 5 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. | Central City
Nolé, a new Latin-inspired Copeland’s restaurant on St. Charles Avenue, is looking to start a Cinco de Mayo tradition of their own. The spot hosts its first-ever Cinco de Mayo Festival including food and drink specials and a DJ spinning tunes in the outdoor area. Entry is free, and free valet is available for all guests.

Drinko De Mayo – Saturday, May 4 from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. | Kenner
Get ready to kick off Cinco De Mayo a day early with Porch and Patio in Kenner. Drink and food specials will be in full effect, including $4 margaritas, $3 tequila, and $3 tacos. There will also be live music provided by Burnside Flashers starting at 3 p.m., followed by The Band Epic at 7 p.m.
Cinco de Mayo at the Velvet Cactus – Sunday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 1o p.m. | Lakeview
The Velvet Cactus hosts a Cinco de Mayo celebration with a full-day of food, music and drinks. The lineup included performances from bands and a DJ. There will be a $5 cover starting at 3 p.m.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly vibe, kick off your Cinco de Mayo at El Paso in Metairie. The spot hosts a fiesta starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Live music, entertainment, delicious Mexican food, and tasty beverages are all part of the fun for the whole family. The event features live entertainment from bands and DJs throughout the day.
Cinco de Mayo at The Max Lounge – Sunday, May 5 starting at 5 p.m. | Metairie
A food truck, dancing and drink specials. What more could you ask for to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Over at The Max Lounge in Metairie, all of this will be available, including a live performance from Julio and Cesar starting at 6 p.m. Remember to bring your dancing shoes!
Los Jefes Grill Cinco de Mayo Block Party – Sunday, May 5 from noon until 11 p.m. | Metairie
Hit up this block party at the popular Fat City restaurant starting at noon. Los Jefes pulls out all the stops for their annual Cinco de Mayo event with fun for the whole family including face painting, photo booths and a taco eating contest. DJ Emotion will spin at the event, and the restaurant will offer free tequila shots from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Los Jefes encourages people to RSVP a table ahead of time, which includes seating for 8 and a complimentary bottle of Avion Tequila. Table prices are $100.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration at Carreta’s Grill – Sunday, May 5 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. | Slidell
Over on the North Shore, Carretta’s Grill in Slidell hosts one of the biggest celebrations in town. Enjoy great food and drinks outdoors, a taco truck, and live music all day, including a performance from Supercharger from at 3 p.m. Plus, get free giveaways and some awesome margaritas.

All-day festivities kick off at Carretta’s Grill Metairie location starting at 11 a.m. The family-friendly event promises free giveaways, outdoor food and drinks, live music, and much more.
Felipe’s Taqueria Cinco de Mayo Fiesta – Sunday, May 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. | Mid-City location
The big celebration at Felipe’s Mid-City location returns this year. The fiesta will transcend from inside the restaurant to an outdoor courtyard filled with traditional experiences that include live music and drink stations featuring authentic margaritas, cocktails and cervezas. The party will kick off at 6 p.m., with live performances from the Fermin Salsa Band and Merengue4-Four.
Cinco de Mayo Festival at El Paso Mexican Grill – Sunday, May 5 from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. | Slidell
On the North Shore, join a fun-filled Cinco de Mayo celebration with live music entertainment, family fun and margarita specials at El Paso Mexican Restaurant in Slidell. The music line up includes DJs, Quarter Notes Live and music by Witness. Family fun includes a piñata, face painting and Paso Fino Horse.
Cinco de Mayo at Arana y Cantina – Sunday, May 5 | Irish Channel
Arana will have live music, an outdoor bar, tequila tastings and more to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The music will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The outdoor bar opens from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will serve specialty cocktails.
Cinco de Mayo at The Rum House – Sunday, May 5 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. | Irish Channel
Join The Rum House for a Cinco de Mayo celebration featuring all-day drink specials. $6 house margaritas, $7 fruit twist margaritas, $3 Bud Light, and $3 Mexican import beers will all be on tap, so come prepared for a party.
Lucy’s Cinco De Mayo Block Party – Sunday, May 5 starting at noon | Central Business District
Join Lucy’s for an all-day party including Lucha-Derby Races, Luchador Wrestling, Top Taco giveaways, and specials on tequila, beer, and tacos. A free DJ Dance Party will also take place. Tickets are also available for All-You-Can-Eat Tacos and All-You-Can-Drink Margaritas from noon until 5:05 p.m. upstairs only for $55.
Casa Borrega’s Cinco de Mayo Street Party – Sunday, May 5 from 4 p.m. until midnight | Central City
Break out your dancing shoes for a Cinco de Mayo fiesta at Casa Borrega. The cute Central City restaurant and bar features Margaritas, mezcal, and street food — plus a street party with performances from La Tranka, Luna Mora, and Javier Gutierrez Trio.

Carreta’s in Harahan brings back their Cinco De Mayo event from last year, featuring free giveaways and live music. The Topcats will provide the music, you just need to bring yourself.
Cinco de Mayo Fiesta & Mexican Crawfish Boil – Sunday, May 5 starting at 5 p.m. | Leonidas
El Taco Loco says they’re boiling crawfish Mexican style for Cinco de Mayo along with authentic cuisine. Guests can also enjoy music and other surprises. Several food and drink specials will be available, including $1 off frozen margaritas, $1 off small burritos, a $9.50 Mexican crawfish platter, and a free shot cup with the purchase of any top shelf shot. While the boil starts at 5 p.m., the specials will be available all day, so guests can come at any time to commemorate the holiday.

Nacho Mama keeps the party going all weekend long, with drink specials being offered from Friday until Sunday. On the 5th, they will have their Party on the Patio with DJ Dave spinning from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. and Sauza shot girls will be on hand to give out schwag.
Cinco de Mayo Festival at El Patron – Saturday, May 4 & Sunday, May 5 | Gretna
Over at El Patron on the West Bank, they promise all-day festivities the Saturday and Sunday of Cinco de Mayo weekend. The Chee-Weez, Bag of Donuts, and Burgers and Fries will all be performing live during the festival. There will also be fresh Mexican food, margaritas, beer, and much more.
