The popular New Orleans dish Oysters Rockefeller scores its own commemorative day on Tuesday, Jan. 10, which means local diners can also score a deal.
National Oysters Rockefeller Day gets an official day of recognition for the first time this year on Tuesday. In celebration, Antoine’s Restaurant will offer a free order of Oysters Rockefeller to diners throughout lunch and dinner on Tuesday. Guests can take advantage of the deal during the restaurant’s lunch hours from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner hours from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
While Antoine’s has become renowned for the original New Orleans Oysters Rockefeller recipe, several versions exist today. The common ingredients are chopped greens and butter. Though most restaurants use spinach today, the original steadfastly holds that the proper recipe does without.
