Fete des Fromages, also known as the NOLA Cheese Fest, will gather top cheese makers of Europe and the U.S., at the New Orleans Jazz Museum on Nov. 16.
More than 120 artisan cheeses from around the globe will be ready for unlimited cheese feasting, along with signature eats, against a distinctly New Orleanian backdrop of live music, craft beer and French wines.
Cheese lovers can sample from top European cheese makers like Beemster, Fulvi Pecorino Romano, Grana Padano, Gruyere AOP, La Bonne Vie, and Mitica, along with United States vendors — including a Wisconsin Cheese Experience and a Southern Cheese Village.
VIP ticket holders will be allowed entry to the fest at 11 a.m. and general admission ticket holders at noon for unlimited cheese tasting, drinks and live music with HARMONOUCHE followed by Meschiya Lake and the Little Bighorns and Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots. Ticket prices for the festival range from $10 to $130.
Organizers also announce two new cheese events this year in the lead-up to Fete des Fromages. We’re talking cheese on cheese on cheese!
National cheese expert, author and “Chopped” guest judge Liz Thorpe will lead an exclusive cheese and cocktail pairing class on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the newly opened Sazerac House. The class takes place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. You must be 21. Tickets are $50.
New Orleans’ top chefs will compete at Fromage a Trois: Cheese, Chefs & Cocktails on Friday, Nov. 15. Working with an assigned type of cheese, chefs from award winning restaurants including Atchafalaya, Domenica, Palace Cafe, Restaurant R’evolution, Saba, Three Muses and more will compete to make a perfect cheese bite. Guests will be able to sample each one and vote for their favorite while sampling signature cocktails, enjoying the cash bar and sounds by DJ El Camino. The event will take place at The Cellar on 2500 St. Louis. Tickets are $25.
Cheese Boss and Cheese Fanatic ticket holders can look forward to an outdoor lounge with unlimited bar, Marquee de Lafayette Cognac tasting, exclusive cheeses, light bites, a swag table and, for the first 200 ticket purchasers, a 45-minute wine and cheese pairing class focused on either the Medoc region of Bordeaux or Tuscan greats from Castello di Ama.
