Chick-fil-A opens a new West Bank location at 4951 Lapalco Boulvard in Marrero, during an unprecedented time.
Due to COVID-19 restaurant regulations, the popular fast food chain only opened drive-thru and mobile curbside service for its grand opening on Wednesday, April 22.
“We are excited to be opening our Marrero location on Wednesday, April 22nd! For the safety of the community and our team, we will be open for Drive-Thru only and Mobile Curbside through our Chick-fil-A One App,” Chick-fil-A announced on Facebook.
Due to ongoing health concerns related to COVID-19, the location also chose to cancel its traditional First 100 Event as a precautionary measure. The crowd-attracting Chick-fil-A tradition typically awards grand prizes to the first 100 participants at a store opening.
“Your safety is of the utmost importance to us, please understand that this decision was made with your wellbeing in mind,” the restaurant said in a release.
The Marrero location also announced it will initally serve a limited menu.
In the latest response to coronavirus, Chick-fil-A said its restaurants began supplying team members with face masks or other face coverings in accordance with CDC recommendations.
In addition, Chick-fil-A restaurants that are serving through the drive-thru are now equipped with outdoor hand-washing stations for team members to frequently wash their hands, the company said on its website.
Restaurants also have begun new processes for limiting contact in the drive-thru, which vary by location.
When the new Marrero location resumes normal operations, it will offer dining room service and a play area for children.
