The New Orleans Chamber of Commerce will help unveil the new location during a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:45 a.m., announced via a release.
The ribbon cutting will include remarks from the Chamber and the restaurant’s general manager, Cheryl Oates, a New Orleans native. Oates was born at Ochsner Baptist and spent part of her childhood in Carrollton until her family was displaced by Katrina.
Following leadership roles at the North Shore Chipotle restaurants, Oates says she is “excited to return to Uptown and lead the team at Chipotle on Magazine Street,” the release said.
According to the release, some of the first guests at the opening will receive Chipotle and Tobasco swag.
The national chain specializes in tacos and Mission-style burritos.
Chipotle’s Orleans Parish arrival hasn’t come without some hiccups.
According to Eater New Orleans, Garden District neighbors heavily opposed the national chain’s plans to open on Magazine Street. Subsequently, Chipotle almost backed out of opening the Magazine Street location and even had to settle a lawsuit filed by the building’s landlord.
The new Garden District location will join four other New Orleans-area Chipotle locations in Metairie, Harahan, Slidell and Mandeville.
Hours of operation at the new Chipotle location are Monday through Sunday from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.
