New Orleans City Park closes its Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, Storyland and cancels several upcoming events during the Coronavirus pandemic.
City Park will also close the Tolmas Visitor Center, Wheel Fun (boats and bikes rentals) and the Botanical Garden.
City Park officials announce the cancellation of the following events:
- Bunny Hops
- Big Bass Fishing Rodeo
- Egg Scramble
- Spring Garden Show
- Thursdays at Twilight – canceled through the first week of May
- Kitchen in the Garden events – canceled through the first week of May
- Botanical Garden events
- Swing in the Oaks
- Earth Day
City Park also announced the cancellation of birthday parties hosted on-site. Affected individuals should e-mail their party contact for additional details.
NOLA City Bark will remain open, but admission will be limited, City Park says.
Louisiana Children’s Museum, located on the City Park grounds, also closes its doors starting March 16 and plans to reopen April 13 per Governor Edwards’ mandate to close K-12 public schools across Louisiana.
Also closed are playgrounds, work-out pods, NOLA City Bark Dog Park Office, Administration Office, City Putt, the snoball stand, New Orleans Museum of Art and the NOMA Sculpture Garden.
As more cases of the coronavirus disease are being identified in the Greater New Orleans area, New Orleans City Park lists several CDC recommended guidelines they are implementing via their website.
City Park guests are invited to get the most up-to-date information on the City Park website. The Covid-19 Updates page will have all current information on changes to attractions and events including smaller events in the Park.
