Covington’s 23rd annual Three Rivers Art Festival set for Nov. 9-10

The 2019 Three Rivers Art Festival, one of the largest juried art festivals in the region and one of the most popular Northshore events, is set for Nov. 9 to Nov. 10.

Held in the Downtown Cultural Arts District, the free festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 23rd annual event plans to draw more than 60,000 people for one of the most popular events on the Northshore.

Festival goers are welcomed to take a stroll down Columbia Street in the city’s Cultural Arts District to shop the work of talented artists from all over the country. More than 200 artists tents will showcase work from painting to metalwork and everything in between. The event celebrates art in all forms.

The festival also hosts a student art competition featuring more than 400 works of art created by the local youth helping to inspire and encourage children of all ages to create art.

“The festival draws a diverse group of visitors to our uniquely artistic community and inspires future generations of artists to create what they love,” festival coordinator Sarada Bonnett said.

The festival has grown from a celebration of 49 artists to more than 200 exhibitors including a live music tent, art demonstrations, food vendors and a children’s activity area.

Jake Gunter and Johnny Hayes Band are also scheduled to perform Saturday night in a free public concert at the Covington Trailhead on Saturday, November 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Other exciting elements at this year’s festival include:

· The Arts Alive Tent featuring metal forger John Perilloux from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and coppersmith Buddy Holmes from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday

· The Children’s Discovery Area featuring an array of hands-on activities including the art of self-expression and a workshop on the art of dance

· The Music Tent featuring live performances by Brooke Hagler, Brett Thomassie, Kass and John Michael, The In-Laws, Maddi Tripp, Reed Alleman, Jake Gunter and Kathryn Rose Wood
