Grammy Award winners Cyndi Lauper, Michael McDonald and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee John Oates are set to perform at the 2018 Family Gras concert celebration on Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3.
Family Gras organizers have made one big change to this year’s festivities in Jefferson Parish. Organizers have limited the concert festival to two days rather than the usual three days of music due to Super Bowl Sunday falling on Feb. 4. There will also be no parades rolling in Jefferson Parish on Super Bowl Sunday.
National headliner and pop culture icon Cyndi Lauper will close out Family Gras 2018. Lauper’s debut album produced songs that charted four of the top-five hits on the Billboard Hot 100 — “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” “She Bop” and “All Through the Night.” Lauper’s performance will be preceded by five-time Grammy-winning artist Michael McDonald and John Oates, most known for his work as part of musical duo Hall & Oates.
Funk and soul band David Batiste & The Gladiators will kick off Family Gras at 5:30 on Friday, February 2, dubbed Louisiana night. They will be followed by local legend and favorite Deacon John and the Ivories.
The family-favorite band The Imagination Movers will kick off Saturday’s performances, followed by local teenage band Remedy.
Festival producer Greg Buisson says he’s “thrilled” with this year’s Family Gras lineup.
“John Oates, Michael McDonald, and Cyndi Lauper each rocked the stages at our famed Jazz Fest in recent years. They are all chart-topping sensations with impressive catalogs of music. We are excited to once again treat our festival-goers to terrific shows followed by the pageantry of Mardi Gras,” Buisson said.
