Deutsches Haus’ Oktoberfest Returns to Mid-City

The New Orleans institution has found its permanent home.

Deutsches Haus has made its return to Mid-City!

The popular New Orleans institution has moved its annual Oktoberfest celebration to the site of its new permanent home, 1700 Moss Street. The picturesque setting along Bayou St. John across from City Park will play host to one more weekend of Oktoberfest festivities this upcoming weekend, Oct. 20 to Oct. 21.

Admission costs $8; children 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at the entrance. Highlights include German food such as brats, sauerkraut, schnitzel, meatloaf, pork loin, sauerbraten, German cheeses, Bavarian-style pretzels, German desserts, and Bavarian nuts.  Over 20 different German beers, about 9 different wines and over 20 different schnapps are also available for purchase.

Entertainment includes Oompah music, special dance performances, the chicken dance, Masskrugstemmen (beer stein holding contest), a daily historical exhibit and a
souvenir shop featuring German items.

The construction of the new Deutsches Haus is underway and scheduled to be completed in fall 2018.
