Dixie Brewing Company will reopen onsite retail operations at its New Orleans East facility after “careful consideration for phase one guidelines” at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 21.
Following opening day, Dixie will kick off Memorial Day weekend with local bands playing outside in the beer garden, in coordination with Front Porch Gigs.
Bands will perform from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. starting on Friday and continuing through Sunday. The lineup includes Kings of a Small Time, Jake Eckert from New Orleans Suspects and Dave Jordan and Rurik Nunan.
The company said that expansive outdoor space surrounding its 15-acre property near the Industrial Canal makes Dixie Brewery an ideal setting for “organized social distancing.”
General manager Jim Birch said Dixie Brewing will offer to-go for guests who prefer carry-out service.
“Outdoor seating options are marked with helpful flags that have been spaced at least 10 feet apart, and guests are also welcome to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets,” Birch said. “We are really lucky to have such a large outdoor area that our guests are free to explore – whether sitting by the lake, under a Satsuma tree, playing corn hole or throwing a (sanitized) bocce ball!”
Dixie said employees will wear masks, and customers must wear masks when interacting with staff.
Other safety precautions include frequently cleaning all high-contact surfaces and placing multiple sanitizer stations conveniently placed throughout the beer garden and taproom.
Customers will be required to check-in upon arrival with a Dixie Team Member to monitor reduced capacity regulations, the company said. Additionally, food must be purchased in order to place an alcoholic beverage order.
In addition to the taproom re-opening, Dixie is also releasing their fifth new Crafted by Dixie innovation beer called Ya Heard? on Thursday, May 21. The German-inspired Keller Pilsner brewed with craft pilsner malt and “noble” Saaz hops is available in limited quantities from the brewery only in 16oz, 4-pack cans and on draft.
Hours of operation following the re-opening will be Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
