Drive-thru farmers market opening at Parkway Bakery in New Orleans

Vendors from the Crescent City Farmers Market get creative with a new format to connect with customers during the coronavirus pandemic.

This weekend, you can restock fresh produce and other essential items without heading to the grocery story and without even leaving your car.

The Crescent City Farmers Market partners with Parkway Bakery for a pop-up, drive-thru market on Sunday, April 5.

While the popular Mid-City po-boy shop is closed, Parkway’s parking lot on Hagan Avenue will get converted into the first drive-thru market.

We are excited announce a pop up farmers market on Sunday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Parkway Bakery and Tavern….

This new setup will allow for social distancing while picking up fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products, eggs and baked goods. The market will also offer a variety of prepared and ready-to-eat foods.

To minimize contact even further during the COVID-19 pandemic, shoppers must pre-order online before showing up to pick-up items. You must place orders through vendors directly using electronic payment methods. No purchases will take place on site.

Vendors will take orders until noon on Saturday, April 4. For SNAP purchases, shoppers should place orders with Market Umbrella staff at 504-495-1459.

This pre-order only market will feature fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy and eggs, breads and baked goods, and a variety of artisanal prepared and ready to eat foods. All purchases must be made directly through vendors using electronic payment methods – no sales will take place on site.

Pick-up will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday. For pick-up, shoppers enter Parkway Bakery’s parking lot from Lafitte Street, drive-thru the market and exit onto Toulouse Street.
