Families granted free access to Audubon Zoo for second annual ‘Back-to-School Fest’ on Saturday

NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) and Audubon Nature Institute kick off the 2019-2020 school year with their second annual Back to School Fest on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Audubon Zoo.

The event is open to all Orleans Parish public school students and their families. Complimentary admission to the zoo will be given to the first 10,000 families between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Plenty of back-to-school resources and giveaways will be up for grabs including an XBOX 360 from Microsoft. Families will also have the chance to learn about the upcoming school year and meet fellow members of the NOLA PS community. Daughters of Charity will be on site to provide health services and consultations.

NOLA-PS Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr., Audubon Institute’s President and CEO Ronald Forman, Orleans Parish School Board members and other elected officials will be addressing the crowds starting at 11 a.m. Additionally, there will be performances from several school choirs and bands following opening remarks.
