For the first time, Lowe’s will offer free Christmas tree delivery this year

With families spending more time at home, Lowe’s wants to help make decorating your home for the holidays a little easier this year.

For the first time, Lowe’s will offer free Christmas tree delivery for some holiday cheer without having to leave the house.

Beginning Oct. 30, customers can order fresh Christmas trees online and get them delivered within two to five days. Other decorative items, including fresh-cut wreaths and tree containers, will also be available for free local delivery. Delivery is free on orders more than $45.

The free Christmas tree delivery service is part of a new initiative by Lowe’s to revamp its annual holiday sales event with a focus on becoming a total gift-giving destination this season.

During the pandemic, many homeowners have launched home improvement projects while spending more time indoors. With the new push, dubbed “Season of Savings,” the big-box retailer will offer more home goods and other items shoppers wouldn’t typically expect from the home improvement store.

“We’ve been blown away by our customers’ creativity and dedication to making their homes work harder and smarter for them this year. Whether repurposing a room into an office or tackling basic repairs, more time at home became more time for home,” said Bill Boltz, Lowe’s executive vice president, merchandising. “We want to make the holiday experience even more accessible this year by offering competitive deals earlier than ever on top-rated, unique gifts for the home, as well as on the most sought-after brands, that will help our customers gift home for the holidays this season.”

In addition to free Christmas tree deliveries, the retailer will offer several pick-up options to help make the shopping experience more flexible and convenient including in-store, curbside and new contactless self-service pickup lockers.

As part of the company’s longstanding tradition, Lowe’s stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day to help associates and customers spend the day with their loved ones.

Like many retailers, Lowe’s will move away from its usual Black Friday event to help reduce crowded, in-store holiday traffic. Instead, the retailer will launch its new “Season of Savings” earlier than ever, with in-store and online deals from Oct. 22 through December.
