This fall, Jefferson Performing Arts Society will host a “Drive-In Déjà vu” movie experience at the Pontchartrain Convention & Civic Center in Kenner on Friday nights in October.
The movie series features five weekly screenings of classic films shown on a large 40-foot inflatable screen in the parking lot behind the Pontchartrain Center. Screenings start at 8 p.m.
The movie lineup includes “42nd Street” on Oct. 2, “The 39 Steps” on Oct. 9, “Arsenic & Old Lace” on Oct. 16, “An American in Paris” on Oct. 23 and “Ghostbusters” on Oct. 30. The first four films are tied to upcoming productions of the Jefferson Performing Arts Society’s 2021 season.

“While maintaining social distancing and caring for the safety of the attendees, the event allows JPAS to bring something new to the community while promoting our upcoming season,” JPAS said about the event on its website.
JPAS will limit each screening to around 200 cars, positioned in every other parking spot to allow for sufficient distancing between vehicles. Gates will open one hour prior to showtime and parking spots are first-come, first-served.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own pre-cooked food and drink. There will be no on-site vendors to help ensure the least amount of movement of attendees throughout the parking lot.
Other safety guidelines for the event include required face coverings when guests are not inside their vehicles. Pontchartrain Center security and the Kenner Police Department will be on-site for monitoring.
Tickets purchased through Sept. 21 are $40 per vehicle, and ticket prices increase to $50 per vehicle starting on Sept. 22. Organizers will not sell any tickets on-site.
