Fried Chicken Fest 2019: Here’s the full menu of finger-licking dishes

The 2019 National Fried Chicken Festival will feature more than 30 restaurants frying a mix of traditional and creative finger-licking poultry dishes. Organizers released complete details on the menu festival-goers can dig into at Woldenberg Riverfront Park on Sept. 20 to Sept. 22.

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, Blue Oak BBQ, McHardy’s and Fiorella’s Cafe are among the restaurants set to participate. Restaurants will provide unique spins on the iconic Southern dish, including nationally-renowned restaurants from Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi and Louisiana.

The festival will also feature vegan and gluten-free options from local restaurants Ma Momma’s House, Crêpes à la Cart, Blue Oak BBQ, Southern’s, Theaudric’s Real Clever Cuisine, and SNO-LA Snowballs.

Restaurants will compete for bragging rights in the festival’s two highly coveted tasting contests, “Best Fried Chicken” and “Best Use of Fried Chicken in a Dish,” judged by a distinguished panel of judges.

Festival organizers expand the 2019 festival to three days. The fest takes place on Friday, Sept. 20 from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The music lineup at this year’s festival includes performances from bounce supergroup Bounce Royalty featuring Choppa, Cheeky Blakk and DJ Jubilee, the St. Augustine High School “Marching 100,” Bonerama, Dwayne Doopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers, Little Freedie King, Cha Wa and Water Seed, among others.

Returning attractions also include Cane’s Square, the Mist and Chill lounge and a game-day screening for NFL and NCAA football fans. Festival attendees will also enjoy a new beer tasting garden and a Coors Light Cold Stream experience.
