Funky Uptown Krewe returns for year two on the avenue!
On January 6, 2020, Funky Uptown Krewe will make its second annual Twelfth Night ride on the St. Charles streetcar. The theme for 2020 is Funky Flappers and Dapper Gents.
The Funky Uptown Krewe will follow the original Heralds of Carnival, the Phunny Phorty Phellows, on the St. Charles streetcar line.
By now, you’re probably saying, “Wow, it’s really carnival time again!” Yes, it is THAT time again so get ready for the ride as we help you map out your best life in 2020.
The Funky Uptown Krewe will depart from Bourree at Boucherie (1510 S. Carrolton Ave.) at 7:05 p.m. and ride the St. Charles streetcar to Lee Circle and back to Fat Harry’s (4330 St. Charles Ave.)
Along the route, parade goers should keep an eye out for New Orleans’ very own DJ Mannie Fresh as he’s slated to perform a full DJ set during the krewe’s ride! Kings of Brass will provide sounds at the krewe’s pre party.
Here’s a special message from DJ Mannie Fresh posted to the krewe’s Facebook page:

Signature throws include a hand-decorated bedazzled vinyl record. Cups and koozies with the krewe’s logo on it will also be thrown so get those hands warmed up and ready to catch.
Less than 10 days until we ride! Catch one of @farriswheels records on Twelfth Night!
Funky Uptown Krewe’s goal is to encourage more revelers to flock to the St. Charles streetcar line on Twelfth Night and provide some small boost to local businesses. The Krewe is 100% volunteer-run and more than 90% of every dollar spent by the Krewe is spent locally.
