Get in touch with your inner child at City Park

Need a break from adulting this Summer? Look no further than City Park!

The Carousel Gardens Amusement Park is open for the Summer season, allowing you to act like a child for a day.

There are 17 fun rides at the park, including the tilt-a-whirl, bumper cars and the Lady Bug roller coaster.

You can also climb aboard Captain Hook’s pirate ship, follow Pinocchio into the mouth of a whale or scamper up Jack & Jill’s Hill in City Park’s Storyland. Fairytales and fantasy come to life right before your eyes!

Feeling up for a little competition? City Putt is a 36-hole mini golf complex with two courses: the Louisiana Course highlights cultural themes and cities from around the state; the New Orleans Course showcases streets and iconic themes from around the city, with signs detailing the city’s historic sites at each hole.

If you are feeling up for a leisurely stroll, the Train Garden is a beautiful escape.

The train garden features typical New Orleans home and building architecture made with botanical materials, and replicas of streetcars and trains that wind around the track. Visitors walk along a pathway representing the water surrounding the city and “stops” along the track give brief histories of the neighborhoods and the train and streetcar lines that served them.

You can also take a daily train ride around the park. Click here for train times.

Last but not least, tilt your head back and let the breeze hit your face on the historic City Park Carousel.

For more than 100 years, visitors have enjoyed this unique marvel – a beauty featuring “flying horses” and one of only 100 such carousels in the country. The Carousel is the masterwork of famed carvers Loof and Carmel, and has drawn praise from the National Historic Preservation Society.

The Carousel is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
