Memphis-based Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken opened its first Louisiana location in New Orleans. The chicken chain opened its new Warehouse District restaurant at 308 S. Diamond Street.

The New Orleans location will be the first company-owned store in 12 years, according to a Gus’s spokesperson.
Gus’s President Wendy McCrory is “thrilled that this is their first corporate store in New Orleans,” the spokesperson said.
The chain, known for its hot-and-spicy fried chicken, has been featured in regional and national publications, including a nod as the “best fried chicken in America” by Forbes Magazine.
Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken isn’t a complete stranger to the New Orleans area. The restaurant has participated as a vendor in local food events like the National Fried Chicken Festival.
More than 60 years ago, the fried chicken chain began from the back door of a tavern in Mason, Tenn. Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken now has several restaurants across the U.S. with more than two dozen locations in 14 states.
“A sign of things to come”
Hours are Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
