Who has the best chicken sandwich? Popeyes or Chick-fil-A? The chicken sandwich debate has recently been wrecking our brains.

Well, if you haven’t tried the Popeyes’ chicken sandwich, you’re out of luck…for now! The fast food chain recently claimed to “run out” of the newly-added chicken sandwich.

However, fried chicken sandwiches are pretty common in New Orleans. It’s a good time to put the debate to rest for a bit and try some of the best chicken sandwiches New Orleans has to offer.

Here’s a list of fried chicken sandwiches to try around New Orleans.

Picnic Provisions & Whiskey

741 State Street, New Orleans

Sink your teeth into this skyscraper of a chicken sandwich from Picnic Provisions & Whiskey.  The casual, picnic-inspired restaurant serves up a Crawfish Boil Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich. The double-decker comes double stacked with light and dark meat, mirliton dill pickles and lemony white miso mayo, on a toasted sesame bun, and topped with Crystal Hot Sauce pulp. While you’re there you can also test out the Chargrilled Naked Chicken Sandwich.

Blue Oak BBQ

Sorry in advance. This fan favorite is only available on Tuesdays, but that doesn’t stop chicken lovers from rushing Blue Oak BBQ to score this spicy chicken sandwich. The juicy, fried spicy chicken with pickles comes dripping with creamy sauce on a sesame seed bun. Blue Oak BBQ’s sandwich also took the crown for “Best Fried Chicken Sandwich” at the 2018 National Fried Chicken Festival. If you can’t make it on Tuesday, Blue Oak BBQ also allows guests to pre-order spicy chicken biscuits to pick up on Sunday mornings starting Sept. 8.
