Hershey’s releases new emoji chocolate bar, first redesign in 125-year history

For the first time in The Hershey Company’s 125-year history, the brand gives its iconic chocolate bar a millennial makeover. The company’s new Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Emoji Bar will feature 25 of the most popular emojis stamped right onto its sweet surface.

The new bars are set to launch nationwide this summer, for a limited-time only, in both standard size and snack size bars, the company announced in a release.

This revamp marks the first time Hershey has altered the milk chocolate bar design in more than a century. Let that sink in. *insert your favorite emoji here*

Hershey says the new emoji bars will feature the icons across six different emoji packaging designs – all designed to collect, share and eat.

“Our classic Hershey’s bars were made to be shared with others,” Hershey’s senior manager Kriston Ohm said. “By adding an emoji design to each pip of chocolate, we hope that parents and kids are inspired to share a chocolate emoji and make a connection with someone new.”

So which “popular emojis” made the cut? The heart eyes, thumbs up and the winking emojis were among the ones selected.

“Each one was carefully selected by parents and kids to feature meanings that would help to spark a conversation,” the company said.

While we don’t have an exact release date, yet. The company says to expect the limited-edition bars just in time for summer and through the start of the school season, while supplies last.

Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Emoji Bars are available in standard a 1.55-ounce bar for a suggested retail price of 99 cents. You’ll also have the option of grabbing a 9.45-ounce, snack-size bag for a suggested retail price of $4.09.
