Inaugural Soul Food Fest heading to Downtown Baton Rouge

A new soul food fest brings food and fun along the Mississippi River!

Louisiana gets another new food festival this Spring. Festival-goers can get some down-home, Southern cooking at the Baton Rouge Soul Food Festival in May.

The newest food festival in Baton Rouge happens on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20 at Riverfront Plaza. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public. It will also feature live music, a vendor’s village and a soul food cooking competition. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Food vendors for the festival have yet to be announced. However, you can expect music from performers such as Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, the ‘King and Queen of the Gut Bucket Blues’ SmokeHouse Porter and Miss Mamie, Uncle Chess and the Groove Band and other acts.

Chair and blankets are encouraged for lawn seating. VIP tickets are also available for purchase and will include food, soft drinks and photo ops with the talent for a fee.
