Krispy Kreme offering free doughnuts to celebrate 83rd birthday

Popular doughnut chain, Krispy Kreme, turns 83 years old on Friday, July 17. To celebrate its birthday, customers will be gifted a free dozen of original glazed doughnuts after purchasing a dozen of their choice. So, basically a buy one, get one free promotion!

In honor of the 83rd birthday, we've compiled a list of five things you might've not known about Krispy Kreme.

1. Krispy Kreme turns 83

Krispy Kreme was founded in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1937.

2. The company has over 700 stores worldwide

Krispy Kreme opened its first international store just outside of Toronto in 2001. The company now expands to places across the world including Australia, Europe and Asia.

3. Download the Hot Light App

There is a preferred way to enjoy a Krispy Kreme Doughnut. When the hot light is on, Krispy Kreme is a must. You can download the “Hot Light App” and get push notification whenever the doughnuts are hot and freshly boxed.

4. Krispy Kreme holds a Guinness World Record

Krispy Kreme is in the Guinness Book of World Records for crafted the world’s largest box of doughnuts. Kuwait Food Co. Americana built a massive, exact replica of a Krispy Kreme Doughnut box that was 19.4 ft long, 13.5 ft. wide and 2.10 ft. deep. The box was filled with 2,700 Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and weighed 297 pounds.

5. Krispy Kreme is alway rolling out new flavors

Krispy Kreme is notorious for having a limited-edition flavor it hit the market. In June 2020, Krispy Kreme announced a new line of dessert-inspired doughnuts. This line included a Banana Pudding Doughnut, Coconut Cake Doughnut and Mississippi Mud Pie Doughnut.
