Organizers for the BrickUniverse LEGO Fan Convention say they will move forward this month with new COVID-19 guidelines in place.
The BrickUniverse LEGO Fan Convention is set to return to the Pontchartrain Civic and Convention Center on Aug. 14 and Aug. 15.
“Brickuniverse will continue to monitor the mandates and recommendations put in place by local and state governments, as they pertain to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations,” a statement in a release said.
New health protocols added to the event include requiring face coverings, replacing hands-on activities with displays and limiting attendance to 30% capacity.
Organizers say they will also increase event space for proper social distancing, discontinue event re-entry and implement timed sessions to manage crowd control.
The time sessions for each day are 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are only good for a single chosen time session.
“We want everyone to have a fun, yet safe experience at BrickUniverse,” event organizer Greyson Beights said. “Past attendees before the pandemic may remember the event being packed with people from wall-to-wall. That will simply not be the case for this year’s event. For everyone’s peace of mind, we are reducing capacity and increasing aisle spaces for a more comfortable, socially distanced experience. Our LEGO artists have been busy building new epic LEGO creations and we are excited for everyone to come see them. ”
Tickets are still available for Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15. Tickets are $18 at the door (if they have not sold out beforehand) or $15 online at www.brickuniverse.com/neworleans.
