In addition, the museum will have extended hours on Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2 during Labor Day weekend from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Tickets must be reserved online before arrival on these dates as well, but will be sold at the general admission cost of $14 per person. The tickets will be first come, first serve with a limited number available for reservation each day.

“Free admission on opening day is our gift to the community and represents our mission to make the resources at the new museum accessible to all children and care givers who want to visit,” said Julia Bland, chief executive officer of LCM. “The new location will allow us to better meet the needs of the community as well as improve geographic access and connect children to nature in a way we haven’t been able to before.”

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, the museum will return to its normal operating hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with general admission tickets costing $14 per person for adults and children 12 months and older.

The new Louisiana Children’s Museum will welcome families from all over to enjoy the state-of-the-art facility on its 8.5-acre site in the midst of New Orleans’ largest park.

Upon opening, special rates will be available to school groups, and LCM members will receive free general admission. Several areas will be open to the public without admission including the talk and play center, the teacher resource center, and Acorn restaurant and its waterfront dining porch.
