The long-running fundraiser for the LSU Department of Bands, started over 35 years ago by Director of Bands Emeritus Frank Wickes, will hold a performance at the Union Theater on Oct. 4, before heading to New Orleans and the Saenger Theatre on Nov. 14.

A VIP reception will be held prior to the Saenger performance, featuring food and cocktails served from area restaurants and a silent auction.

“When Tigerama was first started, it began as a grand tour used to recruit the most talented musicians from across the state,” Tigerama coordinator Rob Dowie said. “It’s great to return to our roots and not only perform in the LSU Union Theater in Baton Rouge, but also the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans.”

Tigerama is a musical extravaganza for all ages, featuring The Golden Band from Tigerland, LSU Wind Ensemble, LSU Symphonic Winds, Golden Girls and Colorguard together in a single performance. Tigerama not only celebrates the current LSU Tiger football season, but also highlights the many talented musical and performance ensembles that are part of the LSU Department of Bands.

The tradition of holding a K-12 only daytime performance of Tigerama in Baton Rouge will also continue, allowing students of all ages to get a look “behind-the-scenes” at what goes into creating this unique performance.

“We are excited to bring this show to people who may have never been able to experience the LSU Bands in person before,” said Dr. Damon Talley, Director of Bands at the LSU School of Music. “We look forward to performing for our alumni and friends in Baton Rouge and New Orleans this year!”

Proceeds from this year’s Tigerama will go directly to support the LSU Tiger Marching Band and the Department of Bands in the LSU School of Music. Tickets for all show times are available at www.TigeramaLive.com.
