Even though Mardi Gras parades are canceled for 2021, you can already get a taste of Carnival.
Popular king cake bakery Manny Randazzo’s on North Hullen Street in Metairie is set to open for a brief sale of their Christmas king cakes on Dec. 10.
Manny Randazzo’s announced its Christmas store hours to sell the holiday treat via its Facebook page.
The king cake bakery swaps out the traditional purple, green and gold Mardi Gras colors for red and green holiday colors. The red and white iced cakes are typically available each year for a couple of weeks.
Okay, we know you’re technically not supposed to eat king cake until the official start of Carnival on King’s day, also known as Twelfth Night. Does a loophole for Christmas king cake skirt around the rules?
The bakery’s Christmas store hours are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., or when king cakes sell out. The Christmas sale continues until Dec. 26.
After the holidays, Randazzo’s will reopen on Jan. 4 to start gearing up for Carnival.
Manny Randazzo’s is located at 3515 N. Hullen Street in Metairie.
Other local bakeries are also pushing out holiday king cakes like Haydel’s Bakery, Gambino’s, Antoine’s Bakery and Clauda’s. Put a call into your favorite bakery to see if Christmas king cakes are on the menu.
